Nostalgia Trilogy: Graduation Film Test Footage

My graduation film project is an experimental nostalgia-themed film trilogy exploring three distinct types of nostalgia through mini-films. Each can be viewed on a single or multi-screen format.

1 - The Leaves and The Memories) Explores seasonal nostalgia A subject will become largely aware of their natural surroundings with close, hazy and lens flare shots. Cutting to them immersed in a trance of christmas memories/ visuals that provoke that e.g. archive, super 8mm, mixed media animation and bokeh of christmas lights. Finally, exiting the trance the ‘world’ is perceived more discoloured and less interesting. Overlaying archive audio will be added to the soundscape.

2 - Generation Destination) Discusses 2000's childhood nostalgia will be extremely bright in its colour palette and will largely relate to my childhood experience/those within my generation. Including archive, VHS and camcorder footage and visuals to help simulate the period and visual. Overlaying archive audio will be added to the soundscape.

3 - Life Celebrations) This is about event nostalgia and will simulate a memory of a birthday party. Using an overly set designed space to recreate an exciting, busy and colourful birthday. Mainly filmed on camcorder or digitised to VHS.

I plan for these mini-films to be exhibited and viewed single screen at festivals.
